Appraisers Funny Stories

I arrived at an inspection I had over the weekend.  The gentleman escorted me in, as I turned into the living room I saw what to me looked like an alligator.  It was about 3 feet long and it just sat there.  In In my mind I thought, "Wow that statue is really neat," until it moved.  My heart sank in my chest as I turned and asked the homeowner about his pet.  He smiled and said, "Don't worry, it's a lizard not an alligator."  He assured me that the lizard wouldn't bother me, but to ease my discomfort, he told me he'd put him away.

I finished my inspection of the first floor and proceeded to go upstairs.  I was jotting down the measurements as I approached the top of the staircase.  There, I came face to face with the lizard.  When the guy told me he was going to put him away, I assumed that would be in a cage, not running free upstairs!! My heart pounded as I slid by the lizard.  I tried my best to carry on and finish the inspection, but the lizard began to follow me.  I was so nervous.  Thank goodness, the homeowner came and caged the little monster!!

Myth or Reality: - Can you Guess?

* Appraisers are hired only to estimate real estate property values in property sales involving mortgage-lending transactions.

* An Appraisal is the same as a home inspection.

Joke of the Month

Top Eight Tricks to Liven up a Meeting

  1. Stand up and act indignant. Demand that the boss tell you the 'real' reason this meeting has been called.

  2. Spill coffee on the conference table. Produce a little paper boat and sail it down the table.

  3. Stay behind as everyone leaves, including the boss and thank them for coming.

  4. Give a broad wink to someone else at the table. In time, wink at everyone. Sometimes shake your head just a little, as if to indicate that the speaker is slightly crazy and everybody knows it.

  5. Arrange to have a poorly dressed young woman with an infant quietly entering the meeting, stare directly at the (male) speaker for a while, burst into tears, then leave the room.

  6. Bring a hand puppet, preferably an animal. Ask it to clarify difficult points.

  7. When there is a call for question, lean back in you chair, prop you feet up on the table, smile contentedly, and say, "well, that's the way I see it J.D...." (or any other impressive-sounding initials that are not actually your boss's.)

  8. Bring a small mountain of computer printouts to the meeting. If possible, include some old-fashioned fanfold paper for dramatic effect. Every time the speaker makes a point, pretend to check it in one of the printouts. Pretend to find substantiating evidence there. Nod vigorously, and say "uh-huh, uh-huh!"
